I AM NOT SURPRISED THAT OUR LEADERS GET NOWHERE

It Appears A Deal Has Been Reached – Elad Mayor Porush Is Moving To Beit Shemesh

If anyone is still naïve enough to believe that the machlokes surrounding municipal elections has anything to do with benefiting the citizens of a particular city or municipality, the following deal should remove these unrealistic notions. In fact, clearly, it is about a party maintaining power, control over funding, and the ability to assist its own tzibur above all else. It is about keeping the powerbrokers in key positions, as each party is looking to advance its own personal agenda.
According to information revealed to the media, the deal between Shlomei Emunim and Degel Hatorah surrounding the municipal elections in Elad and Beit Shemesh will bring an end to the machlokes, and secure jobs for the persons involved. One may call it achdus, or perhaps more correctly, a business agreement that both sides view as the best possible situation amid the unwanted reality that the other is not vanishing any day soon.
In the upcoming municipal elections in Elad, Mayor Yisrael Porush will not seek reelection and the slot will go to a Degel Hatorah candidate. The deal represents a ceasefire between Degel Hatorah and Shlomei Emunim. No need to be too concerned for Porush, who will not be unemployed. He will be moved to Beit Shemesh, where Degel will back him as the paid deputy mayor in the city, under the incumbent, Moshe Abutbul, who they believe will emerge the victor in the race.
In the next municipal elections, in 5784, Degel Hatorah will back Yisrael Porush in the mayoral race in Beit Shemesh. In that election, Degel will receive the portfolios which will be held by Shlomei following the upcoming elections.
Degel will commit to this before a beis din, acting with the knowledge of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita. Degel will also speak with Shas, to persuade Abutbul to step down and not run again in 5784. It is most likely he will agree, for without the backing of Degel and Shlomei Emunim, he would not likely win the race. Shlomei Emunim will also commit to this before a beis din.
Kikar Shabbos News reports that negotiations took place with HaGaon HaRav Silman Shlita, who was tapped by the Moetzas Gedolei Torah of Degel to attempt to arrive at an agreement. It is reported that Slobodka objected in the beginning, preferring to have Porush for another term in Elad, seeking an agreement that would push the rotation off to 5784, thereby permitting Porush to serve for ten consecutive years.
Rav Silman negotiated with the Rosh Yeshivas Slobodka, HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Hillel Hirsch Shlita. They operated with the knowledge that Rav Kanievsky stated the deal in place in Elad should be honored, and Degel should receive the mayoral slot in Elad in this upcoming race. HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita was also of the opinion that Elad should go to Degel Hatorah in the upcoming elections. HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Ba’adani, who serves as a member of the Moetzas Gedolei Torah of Shas also met with Rav Kanievsky, and the rav instructed Degel to due its utmost to find a candidate that is also acceptable to Shas in Elad, to avoid machlokes with any chareidi party. Rav Ba’adani also met with Rav Edelstein and signaled that the decision by Rav Kanievsky is also acceptable to him. It is most likely that Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Yitzchak Pindrus, who heads the Degel list in Jerusalem, will be tapped as the candidate to run Elad. It remains to be seen as to who will replace him in Jerusalem, and if Degel Hatorah will still run its own candidate in the Jerusalem race, competing with the Agudas Yisrael candidate, Yossi Deutsch.
According to a BeChadrei Chareidim report, a deal orchestrated by Modi’in Illit Mayor Yaakov Gutterman, who is known to be close to Rav Kanievsky, states that in the next elections, in 5784, Shlomei Emunim will receive the backing of Degel Hatorah, and it will receive the mayoral slots in both Elad and Beit Shemesh

SHOCKING FOOTAGE

SHOCKING FOOTAGE: Irresponsible Women Walking in Catskills Nearly Cause Head-On Collision

21
Nearly one month ago, YWN published a “Mailbag” which went viral regarding Jewish women walking on the roads in the Catskills.
The letter was written by a woman in the Monticello area, who explained in detail how women are often seen walking two or three across on the country roads, with zero regard for the passing vehicles.
Her point was to bring awareness to the thousands of woman walking on the roads, warning that someone will one day R”L get killed from this totally reckless behavior.
The attached video is dashcam footage taken on Tuesday morning at around 11:00AM in the Swan Lake area. It shows FOUR women walking side-by-side along the road, forcing vehicles to swerve across the double yellow line into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting them.
The letter writer is correct.
This reckless activity WILL one day cause a serious accident. It will either hurt a pedestrian, or an occupant of a vehicle forced to swerve to avoid hitting one of the totally irresponsible women.
WATCH AND BE SHOCKED

  1. I seriously believe that according to halacha, one is not allowed to go into the other lane if someone is carelessly walking and risk CV injuring or killing themselves or another innocent person. (I don’t expect this to be printed).
  2. There are 2 problems here. One is the pedestrians, but the other is drivers who don’t stop and look before driving into an oncoming lane to avoid pedestrians or stopped cars. This problem is not unique to the Catskills. The problem is also endemic to the 5 boros.
  3. And hooray for YWN for finding yet another article talking about the misdeeds of the heimishe community!
It is a serious issue overal whether it are the walkers or the baby carriages! שה’ ישמר עלינו
  4. The main thing out of order shown in the video is the idiot driver of the car with the video dashcam drives across the double yellow lines into the opposite direction to get CLOSER to the OTHER SIDE that the four women are walking on.
  5. what is most amazing is that there is ZERO attempt (in the clip shown) to move to the shoulder. equally amazing (and share some of the blame) are the drivers who cross the double yellow line without the slightest hesitation or decrease in speed.
  6. Where should these women be walking if not on the side of the road???
Where there is no dedicated sidewalk, pedestrians are allowed equal use of the road (excluding highways obviously) so car users take care and go easy.
Most (if not all) of the upstate New York road accidents are due to highly irresponsible drivers zooming around country roads at ridiculous speeds.
Go slow and share the road.
  7. Moshe94:
“It seems like they are suffering from a superiority complex, which makes them feel like they own the road.”
Are they doing something irresponsible? Yes.
Seems as if you are suffering from a loathing complex which makes you feel as if you have the right to disparage them.
So before I conjecture, let’s read in your own words what would you have said had they had the appearance of belonging to another group?
Let’s see your vast knowledge of diagnosis of the psyche.
  8. Calm down – there’s nothing shocking in this video whatsoever.
The oncoming cars are being fully responsible, only swerving just enough and only because there they can clearly see that they have the space to do so. And all the women are keeping neatly to the very edge of the road, and only spread out after the last car passes and no more oncoming cars can be seen.
(Technically, yes it is a double-line, but it’s really not a big deal to allow common-sense to override technical bureaucratic rules – as in this case, when there is plenty of time and visibility. I realise that all the rule-loving overly-righteous-government-obeying Americans will jump on me for my previous sentence. But I hold by it. And don’t be so ignorant to yell “dina demalchusa” at me. )
This is not a “SHOCKING” video. But the nature and focus of this site is indeed shocking in that, if a visitor were to see the choice of article published on this site, without knowing anything about it’s background, they could easily draw the conclusion that it must be an anti-Semitic site seeing how regularly and punctiliously it tries to highlight every failing of every religious Yid, and always in a manner which is ‘dan le’kaff chovah’.
  9. @galicianer Yes, I would have said the same thing about any group. Unlike some people, I care more about deeds than Identity/affiliation.
  10. In NY, the law is clear, if there is no sidewalk a pedestrian must walk as close to the left of the road as possible, single file, facing oncoming traffic.
  11. Response to AJM: You are 1000% WRONG. Cars are NOT Expected to “Share the Road with Pedestrians” unless a specific sign says so at a MARKED Pedestrian Crossing! This road is Single Lane for Cars in opposite Directions- And Worse For These women is the Hill the ONCOMING CARS come over gives No Time for Cars to See and Stop! It’s not Bad enough a Teenage Girl was KILLED a few Years ago Doing this?!
If Women want to Walk, they must walk 1) INSIDE THEIR BUNGALOW COLONIES 2) SINGLE FILE Along the Grass On side of the road 3) In Town on the Sidewalk 4)Get a Car Ride somewhere safe to walk
Stop this Dangerous Walking In path of Cars on Roadways!
  12. Response to leahleh: § 1156.
    (b) Where sidewalks are not provided any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall when practicable walk only on the left side of the roadway or its shoulder facing traffic which may approach from the opposite direction. Upon the approach of any vehicle from the opposite direction, such pedestrian shall move as far to the left as is practicable.
  13. What’s the point of going up to the Catskills and still be dressed in their stiff garb. Can’t they let loose a little?
  14. SV: These Women Were NOT Walking on the shoulder, Nor were they all the way on the Left- they were walking side by side almost all the way to the double yellow line, leaving no room for a car to pass them safely without fearing into ONCOMING TRAFFIC! . And TORAH LAW of PERSONAL SAFETY would not allow People to endanger their lives walking on a Road where cars Drive that can’t see them over hilly roads till they’re almost hitting them! How Dare they endanger their own and others lives! A few years ago a Frum young Girl was Killed Exactly like this! Don’t defend the indefensible! MiU.S.,..

THE FRUM JEWS ARE STUPID

Arad City Hall Carries Out Renovations on ShabbosAugust 19, 2018 1:30 p.m

The passers-by walking on Shabbos morning on Yehuda Street in the city of Arad were amazed to see tractors and work tools in the courtyard of the Ye’alim public school, which is attached to the rear of the city’s main Ashkenazi shul.
Mispallalim are quoted telling Kikar Shabbos News that tefilos were interrupted by the construction work, the sounds of the heavy equipment and drills working.
In addition, extensive work was carried out, including painting and construction in Gan Renanim, adjacent to the city’s chassidish shul on Chen Street. Residents reported that large garbage containers were set up outside the building, and workers had been removing construction waste all the time, giving a completely secular atmosphere throughout the area.
Residents who spoke with the Kikar Shabbos claim that they saw Jewish workers among the laborers, adding in their eyes this represented crossing a dangerous red line that could creep into the rest of Israel’s cities, with the heads of the local authorities allowing themselves to renovate educational institutions on Shabbos.
One resident added, “Tomorrow they will be painting crosswalks on Shabbos too”.
Arad City Hall responded, stating, “The Arad Municipality is working to open the school year and in the safest manner possible. The city is determined to complete the extensive renovation work being carried out in educational institutions.”
The city denied that Jews were among the workers involved in the renovations and painting.

MOST IMPORTANT THING IN TO DAYS YIDDISHKEIT

CHAZAL ( THE RABBIS ) TEACH US THAT THOSE WHO HAVE BITACHON ( KNOW THAT EVERYTHING COMES FROM G-D ) WILL BE PROTECTED IN THIS WORLD AND IN THE NEXT WORLD.

I CAN HEAR YOU ALL SHOUTING WHAT ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST, IT IS A GOOD QUESTION.

TO ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION IS , WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND G-D  ( OR RATHER NOT UNDERSTAND   G-D )

THE CHASAM SOFER ZT"L EXPLAINS THAT HASHEM COULD HAVE MADE THIS WORLD WITHOUT PEOPLE NEEDING ANYTHING,

G-DS CREATION OF THIS WORLD , A WORLD WERE PEOPLE HAVE NEEDS , AND FOR THIS THEY PRAY AND ASK G-D FOR THERE NEEDS ( THE REASON FOR THIS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE SAME WAY I DO NOT UNDERSTAND G-D AND WHAT IT IS )

BUT AS A JEW AND I KEEP THE TORAH I KNOW AND BELIEVE THAT A G-D EXISTS, EVEN THOUGH I CAN NOT  UNDERSTAND IT.

THE CHASAM SOFER EXPLAINS, THAT THE GREATEST THING A JEW CAN DO IS WHEN HE NEEDS SOMETHING HE TURNS AND PRAYS TO G-D FOR HIS NEEDS, HE GOES ON TO SAY THE GREATEST KINDNESS IN THE CREATION OF MAN IS HE WILL RECOGNIZE HIS CREATOR AND WILL PRAY TO G-D.

THE REASON G-D LET SIX MILLION OR MORE DIE, I DON'T KNOW OR UNDERSTAND,

BUT AS WE SAY AND BELIEVE IN OUR PRAYERS THERE PRAYERS WERE PUT IN TO A BAG.

Non-Religious Woman Surprised and Angered at Jerusalem Post Office Request to Dress Modestly

Elisheva Moldovsky, a student at the Betzalel Academy and a Jerusalem resident, was surprised when she arrived at the post office on Nachum Street in the Geula area of the capital, seeing a sign taped to the door asking visitors to dress modestly.
According to the Yediot Achronot report, her packages arrive at that branch. She requested to have them sent elsewhere, but the branch refused to accommodate her. Since she lives on Yaffo Street, she would prefer another branch but was told her address falls under the jurisdiction of this distribution office. Now, she sees the sign regarding modest clothing, calling it “a chutzpa”. She asked what would occur if such a sign was placed at the office of the Interior Minister of the Tax Authority.
It is pointed out this is not an official branch of the Israel Postal Authority, but a store that is used to service the area.
Elisheva is quoted explaining she never had a problem in the past, and the employees in the branch are quite accommodating and tolerant, and never commented on her attire. She adds that she wrote her own sign in response, that whomever is bothered by her attire should cover their eyes.

The postal authority responded: This is an independent initiative by a grocer who is located in the heart of a chareidi neighborhood, and hands out packages to hundreds of residents, at a very high level of service. The store owner, who placed the sign on his own, removed it at our request. It should be emphasized that the affiliation is geographical and therefore, the packages arrive near the customer’s home. If the customer is interested in picking up her packages at anotheocation, she must first request the new address, her place of work for example

SHOCKING: Israeli Teen Admits To Desecrating WWII Death Camp In Poland

A police spokesman in eastern Poland says an Israeli teen has admitted to removing his pants at the former Nazi German death camp of Majdanek, was sent home, and is facing a fine.
Andrzej Fijolek said Monday the 17-year-old, whose identity has not been released, was caught on CCTV cameras as he let down his pants by one of the wooden barracks at the Majdanek museum while on a school trip there Friday.
Museum wardens notified the police and the teen confessed to the act during questioning. A court is expected to fine him for desecrating a memorial site.
From late 1941 until mid-1944, Germany’s Nazi regime killed some 80,000 of Majdanek’s 150,000 inmates, who were mostly Jews, but also included Poles, Belarusians, Ukrainians and Russians.

Antwerp Fire Department to Refill Dried Up Pool For Tashlich

According to reports in the Belgian-Jewish newspaper “L’Ma’an Teida” the local authorities in Antwerp have agreed to refill a dried up pool in a central park in the city, in order that local Jews will be able to fulfill the custom of Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah in a month’s time.
The local firefighting unit of the area in Antwerp, has been tasked to fill the pool with thousands of gallons of water in the Stadspark garden, in order that is should be ready before the Jewish new year.
Local police want to prevent a possibility where thousands of Charedi Jews march through the city on Rosh Hashanah to head to the nearby river Schheldt, located approximately one mile from the city. The police are worried  that such a march would draw anti-Semitic attacks and have therefore encouraged the city to refill the pool, rather than force the Charedim to make the trek. The pool dried up due to a major heat wave this past year that has affected most of western Europe. Approximately 18,000 Jews live in Antwerp and use the pool as a place of fresh water that contains fish, in order to fulfill the custom of Tashlich. Due to the heat wave, it is unclear how many fish survived in the pool. The Jewish community has also obtained the permission of the city to bring in fish to the pool in order to replenish the wildlife and allow for the custom to continue.
