Two Chareidi Girls Injured In Boating Accident on the Kinneret

A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured and a 16-year-old girl was lightly injured in a boating accident that occurred on the Kinneret on Thursday afternoon.
The girls were riding a “banana boat” flotation device that was tied to a motorboat that was traveling on the Kinneret. The flotation device struck a buoy causing the girls to be injured in the process.
The maritime police who patrol the water were dispatched to the scene as was United Hatzalah’s Ambuboat. The ambuboat and its team of volunteer EMTs treated the young women at the scene for their injuries and stabilized their conditions while heading back to dock. The ambuboat was then met by waiting ambulances and the two injured vacationers were taken to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
Police opened an investigation to determine what caused the accident.

Chapter head of United Hatzalah Yossi Ouknin said: While we were on our regular patrol on the water, we received an alert that a flotation device that was carrying two young women had hit a buoy in the middle of the sea causing the women to sustain injuries. We rushed over to the scene and arrived in no time at all. We provided first aid treatment to the women and stabilized the serious patient. When we arrived at the shore we passed the women off to the waiting ambulance who took them to Rambam.”

HaGaon Rav Mutzafi Comments on Bein Hazmanim Tragedies: We Must Increase Limud Hatorah

HaGaon HaRav Bentzion Mutzafi, a leading sephardi posek in Eretz Yisrael, commented on the numerous tragedies that have occurred during bein hazmanim.
The rav on Wednesday night was asked about the tragedies: “Shalom Kvod HaRav. From day to day we hear about children drowning, and also parents of little children, from the day we began bein hazmanim. Is there a connection?”
In his response, the rav said, “I do not know what is going on? Only when there is less protection from lomdei Torah we must be extra careful, as was already mentioned by Rosh Yeshiva HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita”.
The rav then began listing the tragedies of last week: “Just look at the current list and see, for the past two weeks. The father of two babies disappeared at sea and died. Two children drowned, one in Tel Aviv and another in Rosh Pina. A 21-year-old bochur from Israel drowned in Mexico.
“A famous Rosh Kollel in Monsey drowned, and he was 38. There were two dead in the vehicular accident near Shokat Junction. A known rav in the IDF was killed in an accident near the Kinneret. There were five large fires in the past week, destroying dozens of acres of forest including my home. 52 people died of drowning until the middle of the month of Av, including 16 children. How many were killed or injured by cursed terrorists?”
The posek concluded his response with ” There is no doubt that HKBH is signaling, and we must increase limud Torah and not its cancelation and He should have mercy on His people Israel and save us from many bad incidents”.

THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS TO TAKE AWAY OUR RIGHTS TO BE RELIGIOUS

DRAMA CONTINUES: Court Hearing On Sunday Regarding Steinmetz And MBD Concert In Haifa

Haifa District Court Judge, Ron Shapira, who accepted the petition of the women’s lobby against the performance of Motty Steinmetz and Mordechai Ben David that is supposed to take place in Haifa next week, ruled that a special hearing will be held about the issue of segregated seating at the concert. The hearing is scheduled for Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
The women’s lobby petitioned the court for an injunction against the concert after it was determined that the concert would be for men only. As is widely known, the Chareidi community does not often attend concerts with mixed seating and these particular performers, Steinmetz more than MBD, refuse to perform in front of a mixed crowd.
Shapira responded to the petition that was made against the city and asked the lobby group why the singers were not listed as interested parties in the petition, seeing as how any outcome will likely cause them financial loss. In addition, the Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has stated publicly that he will look into the legalities of having separate seating at concerts in general, and therefore should also have been included as those from whom a response to the petition is requested from.
The courts across Israel go on summer vacation starting on Sunday afternoon. Thus, the court has two working days left to give a decision regarding the petition.
The city of Haifa responded to the women’s lobby group on Tuesday and said that they have no intention of changing any of the plans regarding the concert. “One cannot argue that the Chareidi community, like all the other residents of the city of Haifa, is entitled to receiving cultural services from the city. These services must respect the beliefs and lifestyle of the community as well as provide them with what they need just like they do for anybody else. The city has every right to split up the budget for cultural events and services equally to all residents of the city while simultaneously providing those services in a style that best befits the beliefs of these various communities. This holds true for all of the residents of the city, and especially for the religious elements.”
