But they don't always help, sometimes they harm. Izzy was thrown out of yeshiva for reading a secular book, he was abused by rabbis... Frieda's son was going to be kicked out of cheder because she didn't shave. People are sick of rabbis being made out to be God. They need proper training on how to deal with people being abused, those with questions etc etc.
IZZY SHOULD NEVER HAVE TOLD THEM WHAT HE READS
HE SHOULD HAVE TALKED IT OVER WITH THE RABBI
AND THE RABBISHOULD HAVE KEPT IT PRIVATE.
THAT FRIEDA DID NOT SHAVE HER HEAD IS PRIVATE ONLY HER HUSBAND
COULD HAVE KNOWN THIS AND THE MIKVAH LADY
IF THEY TOLD THIS TO OTHER PEOPLE IT IS WRONG
IF HE TALKED THIS OVER WITH THE RABBI. AND THE RABBI TOLD OUTHER PEOPLE
THE RABBI IS WRONG AND OUT OF ORDER
AND HE SHOULD RESIGN.
That's the whole point, neither Izzy nor Frieda told. Other people told on them, Frieda shared a telephone recording where a lady from the school phoned her and said she was coming to her house to check she was shaving otherwise her son would have to leave the cheder. The rabbi stood against her and tried to make her lose custody of her son.
Izzy's rabbi wouldn't allow his parents to have any contact with him, otherwise he was going to kick them out of the community. It is no wonder so many become drop outs, they need compassion and someone to talk to. Perhaps you could do this role?
