THE BEIS HALEVI ZT"L

THE BEIS HALEVI ZT"L ASKED ONE OF HIS STUDENTS,
" WHAT DO YOU DO THESE DAYS ?"
" I WORK WITH MY BROTHER-IN-LAW,SELLING SUGAR,"
THE BEIS HALEVI THEN TAUGHT TORAH TO HIS STUDENTS.
EVERY HALF-HOUR OR SO, HE STOPPED TO ASK THIS STUDENT,
" WHAT DO YOU DO THESE DAYS ?"
AND THE STUDENT REPLIED EACH TIME,
" I SELL SUGAR WHOLESALE,WITH MY BROTHER-IN-LAW
THE STUDENT FEARED THAT HIS GREAT REBBE MAY BE LOSING HIS MEMORY,SINCE HE ASKED THE SAME QUESTION FOUR TIMES, THE BEIS HALEVI SAID TO HIS STUDENTS,
" THIS STUDENT THINKS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH ME; HE DOESN'T REALIZE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIM.
I ASKED HIM WHAT HE DOES,AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE SELLS SUGAR.
BUT CHAZAL SAY,
" EVERYTHING IS IN HASHEM'S HANDS ASIDE FROM FEAR OF HEAVEN. "
SO THE ONLY THING THAT A PERSON REALLY DOES IS ACQUIRE FEAR OF HEAVEN.
EVERYTHING ELSE HASHEM DOES

It's difficult to understand this when people are against us. It's difficult to know how much free choice we have or if it all from Hashem. I suppose we only have free choice to act morally. A person plans and God laughs.

THIS IS A STATE OF MIND
TO GET TOO YOU HAVE TO PRAY TO HASHEM
IT IS ALL FROM HASHEM AND WE HAVE NO FREE CHOICE
BUT WHEN A PERSON PLANS HE THINKS HE HAS FREE CHOICE
SO WHEN YOU PLAN YOU MUST LOOK IN TO THE TORAH
AND PLAN THE WAY G-D WHOULD WANT YOU TO PLAN
AFTER THE PAIN OF THE PASSING OF MY DEAR WIFE A. H.
I LOST THE POWER OF BEING ABLE TO PLAN
THE MEDICAL WORLD CALL THIS DEPRESSION
ALL I DID WAS PRAY TO G-D AND TALKED TO HIM AND TOLD HIM I AM IN DEPRESSION BECAUSE I ALWAYS THAUGHT THAT I WAS IN CONTROL BUT REALLY HASHEM WAS IN CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE ALL THE TIME

I'm so so sorry for your terrible ongoing pain, Reb Gaby! I saw your cruise show and over the past couple of days, have been watching nearly all your you tube recordings. Last night,I saw the video of you crying over the loss of your own mother, as you were listening to songs of a yiddisher mama.( recorded before Tikvas passing)
As tears rolled down your cheek,I started to cry with you and for you, over your double loss of your mother and loving wife!!
Your pain, was my pain.. Isn't that what you have been preaching in every show?!
Tikvah A"H was a wonderful person, wife and soul mate. I pray to the Aibishter that he should lessen your pain and iy"h find you another wife to ease your loneliness (Although of course, she will never replace or be like Tikvah a"h)
Stay strong and corageous.. Try and keep yourself active and busy and keep an eye over your depression so that it doesn't worsen, C"v.
With blessings for only revealed good for you and your wonderful children.
Regards, (Rabbi) Yossi Solomon.

Ps. I studied in Lubavitch Mechina, 126 Stamford hill. You taught my younger brothers there, although not my class. I met your cousin in Bnei Brak, the owner of the small but lovely silver store! I remember you in person, although it's unlikely that you will recall me.(I would like to come and visit you next time I'm in England IY"H. If that's OK with you!)
