Rabbi lock,it pain me that you call the leaders of our community "STUPID".
This is the problem, we do have money but the mortgages and rents take up 3/4 of the cash. In days gone by, the rent or mortgage took 1/4 of the monthly money and there was spare for everything else.

My point was about saying that it is wrong for people who can't afford something to admit it.
May I say something. There is a certain shul in SH with under a hundred members with a very choshuve rov who has been there for over 35 years. Nearly all these 100 or so members are frum. some very frum. But almost all of them have at least one child who has gone partly OTD. You can tell how big or should I say how little their cappel is. This rov seems to be doing nothing about it. Yes he travels the world giving droshos to others. But on his home ground to the ones who pay him his wages he seems to be doing nothing.
I am sorry to say he is not the only rov who doesnt bother with his members kids. Osher Shapiro is very busy. But it is too late when they get to him. When I was young my rov at the time always inquired about what I learn and spoke to me. Today these rabbonim do not speak to young people. No wonder they go OTD.
