Vishnitz & Belz To Reach A Compromise Pertaining To Lineup On Agudas Yisroel List
The matter of the order on the Agudas Yisrael list of the combined Yahadut Hatorah list in the upcoming election remains a point of controversy, as Belz insists it should be ahead of Vishnitz for two reasons; (1) Belz is a significantly larger chassidus and (2) Yisrael Eichler is a Knesset veteran as opposed to Yanki Tessler, the Vishnitz candidate, who has never served in Knesset.
In the last election the order was Yaakov Litzman (Gerre), Meir Porush (Shlomei Emunim), Menachem Eliezer Moses (Vishnitz) and Yisrael Eichler (Belz). The machlokes between Belz and Vishnitz on this matter is not new, as Belz has always maintained that due to its significant larger size, it should be ahead of Vishnitz on the lineup.
However, now, as the Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita reportedly decided to instruct Moses to step down and retire from Knesset, replacing him with Yaakov Tessler, who is a former advisor to Deputy Health Minister Litzman, Belz views the situation as opportune to correct this injustice. Hence, Belze wants Eichler to receive the third slot on the Agudas Yisrael list, which is the sixth slot on the combined list with Degel Hatorah, stating that Eichler, a seasoned veteran, should come before Tessler, the rookie.
Representatives of Vishnitz and Belz have been working to resolve the matter, with Kikar Shabbos News reporting Eichler and Binyamin Breish are working on behalf of Belz while the secretary of the Agudas Yisrael Moetzas Gedolei Torah Rav Yaakov Waltzer is working with Rav Bentzion Stenger and Yaakov Tessler of Vishnitz to reach a solution. It is hoped that with Waltzer mediating between the sides, a mutually agreeable solution will be reached.
Kikar adds that persons involved in the situation are signaling it appears Vishnitz will agree to step aside and give the third Agudas Yisrael slot to Eichler in the coming election for the 21st Knesset, and this will change back in the election that follows, for the 22nd Knesset.

Belz Remains Firm In Demanding The Third Slot In Lineup
The Belzer chassidus is not sitting back and accepting the party lineup as a fait accompli for it is significantly larger than the Vishnitz Chassidus, which has been placed in the third slot in the Agudas Yisrael lineup while the Belzer representative, Yisrael Eichler, is placed in an unrealistic sixth slot.
Belz is the second largest chassidus in Israel, following Gur, which is the largest. However, Vishnitz was given the slot ahead of Belz, and making things worse, Menachem Eliezer Moses, the veteran Vishnitz representative, was instructed to step down by the Rebbe Shlita, replaced by a young new face, Yanki Tessler, who has been serving as an aide to Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, the Gerrer representative in Agudas Yisrael.

French Court Compels El Al To Pay For Delays On Flight Taking Off From Europe
A Paris court rejected El Al’s appeal which was premised on the company maintaining it pays compensation to travelers in line with Israeli law. The question before the court was if passengers on a flight which was late in taking off from Europe are entitled to compensatory payment as is the case with other passengers under European law. El Al challenged the right of passengers to be compensated, insisting it was acting in line with Israeli law.
According to the Globe’s Finance report, El Al’s position that it acts in line with Israeli law is unacceptable, and therefore, the airline is required to pay a passenger who filed a lawsuit for the plane taking off late. A French court ordered El Al to pay the passengers €400, and the airline decided to appeal the ruling, which it law, and now, the airline must make an additional payment for legal expenses, amounting to €3,000.
One can expect additional lawsuits against El Al as the French court has invited other passengers to sue El Al in French courts and not in an Israeli venue.
Globe’s quotes El Al responding, “El Al has received the ruling made by the court in France and is studying it. El Al acts according to the law.”
European law demands payment in the amounts of €250, €400, or €600 if a flight is delayed by three or more hours, depending on the flight distance. French courts explain this law applies to El Al flights taking off from Europe as well.
Israeli law however differs, as a passenger can receive compensation in the amount of NIS 1,300 to NIS 3,080 according to flight distance, but it applies only to delays of eight hours or more.
